The Legendary Shack Shakers (LSS) have created a new genre best described as blues on speed with a hint of the nitty gritty. This show begins and ends with a contagious amount of energy from front man JD Wilkes that challenges the patrons to keep up. Every chorus calls to his followers: bring your sins to the altar, he will gladly take them off your hands. “Mud“, off their latest album The Southern Surreal, is a full on assault as the lyrics send his disciples spiraling into a disruptive trance. LSS pulls you into the show and feeds off crowd participation. Every applause, every scream is like a high, and Wilkes becomes wonderfully dangerous as he reaches into the audience for adoring fans. The Legendary Shack Shakers is a 21 year tradition that can’t be stopped. Rowdy and obscene, this isn’t something one would expect to fall in love with so quickly and it feels so magnificently sinful when you do.
Zanzabar (Zbar) is a staple in Louisville’s music scene that maintains a constant flow of entertainment nearly 7 days a week. A musical melting pot, this venue is generally full of the sound and genius that packs a crowd in tight. The stage sits low, allowing for an almost eye to eye encounter with whatever act graces our presence. Apart from the musical experience, patrons have a multitude of beer, bourbon, whiskey, and wine choices to pair with an eclectic menu suitable for whatever munchies may come your way. Zbar offers a large arcade full of machines to eat away at the quarters burning a hole in your pocket! Stop in and check out a show, tell them KYMP sent you (just kidding they have no idea who we are). Listen Local!
